Make your mark for patientsWe are looking for an Associate Director or Director who is innovative and agile to join us in our Inflammatory Rheumatology focussed Team, based at our research site in Slough, UK.About the roleThe scope of this position is to provide clinical/medical leadership to the Inflammatory Rheumatology Focus Area, to develop, evolve and drive a translational research strategy that enables fast and seamless transition from pre-clinical projects to early clinical development.Who you’ll work withSet up external collaborations to access cutting edge science and accelerate translational researchWork in partnership with late stage and commercial groups at UCB to ensure alignment of Inflammatory Rheumatology early portfolio strategy Establish and leverage external expert network to establish high value research collaborations to inform Inflammatory Rheumatology strategy within UK ResearchWhat you’ll doProvide clinical/translational leadership to Inflammatory Rheumatology projects to enable initiation and progression of drug discovery programs from target selection through to candidate nomination and to enable seamless transition from preclinical to early clinical developmentDrive experimental medicine studies to discover new targets and better understand patient subpopulationsProvide clinical perspective to support optimal positioning of UCB’s candidate drugs targeting pathobiological pathwaysTake cross-functional and cross-departmental accountability for seamless transition of Inflammatory Rheumatology projects from preclinical to early clinical development, in close collaboration with the Development Sciences and Translational Medicine departments in Early SolutionsHelp build a strong translational research platform to understand human disease biology and prepare for early clinical development with focus on functional human assaysProvide clinical input to in- and out-licensing opportunitiesInterested?  For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skillsMedical doctor with relevant post-registration experience in rheumatologyPhD (or equivalent) in translational research or similar disciplineConsiderable experience and expertise in industry or academia in the field of joint diseases In depth medical and scientific knowledge of rheumatology indications Expertise in human translational research and an understanding of early clinical developmentStrong drive to identify and apply innovative approaches to drug discovery and early clinical developmentDisciplined team-player, open communicator driving healthy scientific debate and willing to disagree and commitWillingness to grow and develop in an open-feedback environmentIf you are interested to learn more about R&D within UCB, please find more information here R&D at UCB.RANDATUCBAre you ready to ‘go beyond’ to create value and make your mark for patients?
