Creating Sustainable Futures is Arup’s strategy and purpose.  It drives all work with our clients and the communities in which we are based and work.  It is an exciting time to be at Arup, as we continue to strengthen our commitment to sustainable development.We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced Associate Director, specialising in ESG strategy and reporting, to join our growing team in London.  Your role will be to lead the growth of our ESG Strategy and Reporting service across a range of sectors.  You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of high-profile clients across a range of sectors, including investors, property, infrastructure, science, industry, technology, energy and water.When advising clients, you will have the benefit of access to a huge breadth of specialists across Arup, including carbon and climate risk specialists, ecologists, economists, behavioural psychologists, futurists, designers, engineers, digital and communication specialists and many more.  This will enable you to drive real change in the organisations you work with.Whilst based in London, this role also involves integrated working and relationship building with colleagues in other Arup offices, both within the UK and globally.  When advising global clients, this will enable you to draw on Arup’s local expertise, tailored to a client’s portfolio.Typical work will involve leading projects delivering horizon scanning, scoping, materiality assessment, objective, target and KPI setting, strategy development, strategy implementation, monitoring and assessment, reporting and feedback and/or investor disclosure.  You will be Project Director on a number of projects across sectors and regions, supported by a Project Manager.  You will be responsible for understanding a client's needs, bringing together the right skills from across Arup, and ensuring projects deliver valuable outcomes for the client.The role is very client focussed, and you will manage relationships with a number of different clients.  Through both internal and external networks, you will be responsible for building a pipeline of work to support the growth of the team and service offering.  You will be responsible for driving continual improvement of the ESG Strategy and Reporting service offering, including overseeing skills development, supported by Arup's Skills Networks and Arup University.This role sits within the Sustainability Team in London, and you will be directly involved in the leadership of this team, including mentoring, resource management and business planning.  It is essential that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be a key technical ambassador for Arup, working closely with our clients as well as the wider industry. You will be a self-motivated, proactive, realistic and collaborative person that strives to deliver solutions of the highest quality and exhibits an excellent attention to detail: your actions should inspire and instil confidence in clients, partners and peers alike.  You will be well networked within your discipline and sectors.Essential Skills and KnowledgeYou will be a motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a proven track record in delivering excellence in ESG / sustainability.  You will have knowledge, or first-hand experience, in most or all of the following areas:Developing and implementing sustainability strategies and/or management systems for organisations/sectors.Developing ESG/sustainability reports in accordance with recognised standardsWinning work and business developmentStrong project management skillsExperience across a range of sectors in both industry and consulting, particularly the property, infrastructure, retail and finance sectors. Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and schemes including:EU TaxonomySustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR)Taskforce for Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)Investor disclosures, including GRESB, CDP.Desirable skills and knowledge:Background in sustainable finance or economicsQualifications:Education to degree level but preferably a Masters degree.Member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) or equivalentChartered Environmentalist or working towards Chartered EnvironmentalistRewards and Benefits  We care about you and want you to perform at your best, which is why we offer one of the most competitive benefits packages in our sector.  As a member organisation, everyone shares in our success through a global profit share scheme (payments are dependent on the firm’s financial performance).  We also provide Private medical insurance, Life assurance, Accident insurance and Income protection cover.
