Likewise, we are committed to supporting CPD to enable our engineers to progress within the industry.RESPONSIBILITIES:Production of fee proposals, fire strategy reports and other relevant documentation as and when required.Attend Client meetings, conduct site surveys and inspections and communicate the intended fire strategy to the design team and client through phone calls, emails and meetings as appropriate.Reviewing architectural drawings to determine potential fire strategy approval risks and opportunities to add value.Calculations of evacuation times - Means of Escape Analysis.Computational Evacuation Modelling Analysis.Solve, with support, fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control and occupant evacuations.Third Party Review/Design Verification.Assessment and understanding of the main UK fire safety legislation and standards applied to buildings.Provide support to junior engineers, particularly in supporting professional development.Assist with achieving the strategic goals of the leadership team.Contribute to senior management meetings to maintain and improve company culture and performance standards.Generate and convert leads in the Cambridge area, building out from our existing client base in the area.Establish a satellite office that maintains the 'feel' of other Affinity offices.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:We provide consultancy services that are strategic, focussed on delivery, manage risk and benefit our clients.We are looking for people with strong technical and analytical skills, but we are also looking for the following qualities:A creatively geared person who can understand risk and provide solutions.A self-starter who is driven by results.Someone who takes personal pride in the quality of their work.You must be pro-active and enthusiastic.A basis of understanding commercial management and resourcing.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Team player who is willing to support and share knowledge with colleagues in the office.You must be able to demonstrate a real passion for your work.This role works closely with Affinity's leadership team so leadership attributes are desirable.Strong emphasis on quality and integrity.Exceptionally strong people skills, particularly when it comes to building relationships with clients.KEY REQUIREMENTS:A degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.Minimum 4 years’ experience working as a Senior Fire Engineer or equivalentwithin a Fire Safety Engineering team.IFE Membership (MIFireE or AIFireE).A thorough understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991.Working knowledge of regulatory controls and a proven ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions in the built environment.Experience in generating and converting leads is desirable but not essential.
