Launched in 2019, Thames MMXX was founded by Boarder, Artist and Creative Director, Blondey McCoy. Since it’s inception the brand has had several highly successful collections, and is now embarking on the next phase of it’s exciting growth journey.
The Role
As Assistant to the Senior Designer at Thames MMXX, you'll be pivotal in our small but growing team, becoming the critical liaison between design and production.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a growing brand. You will work on all product categories and have a passion for innovation and creative manufacturing. This is a very hands-on role, as a key team member, your focus will be on the technical aspects of the design process.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Designer and providing support across all design aspects.
Producing CAD's and Tech packs for garments (including jersey, wovens, outerwear, knitwear), accessories, trim, and packaging- for factory use.
Developing graphic artworks and repeat prints.
Making prototypes, altering patterns and preparing samples to send to factories.
Altering lead samples to comply with new techpack designs (pinning on pockets, embroidery, etc.)
Work closely with the Senior Designer and Production team to realise new designs and meet critical path deadlines.
Aid with product, material and trend research during design and development.
Creating skus and keeping the internal product tracker up to date.
Sourcing new trims, fabrics, and suppliers.
Liasing with factories (raising PO’s, ensuring sample/production deliveries are made on time.)
Review samples/specs and assist the Senior Designer and Production Team with communicating clear, concise, and accurate feedback to manufacturers.
Quality control of garments or other production.
Help with tracking and shipping of samples.
Provide support in ad hoc projects of the Senior Designer.
The Person
Previous technical design experience (2-3 years), ideally for an apparel brand.
A great technical understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and the manufacturing processes.
Basic knowledge of pattern cutting.
Good at taking initiative and willing to get stuck into any project (hands-on attitude to doing the role, and any task requested outside of design).
A creative and innovative thinker.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to be adaptable, flexible and prioritise tasks efficiently.
A good team player in a small dynamic team with excellent communication skills and is eager to learn.
A degree in Fashion Technology or Fashion Design (or similar).
Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
Proficient in the Google Workspace tools (sheets, drive, docs).
