Assistant Shift Manager - Biomass Power Station

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Biomass Power Station in the UK to recruit an Assistant Shift Manager for its site in Northumberland.
The Assistant Shift Manager role comes with a starting salary of up to �69,000, rising to �75,000 after probation, plus private medical and a bonus.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Shift Manager you will:

• Assisting the STL in overseeing the safe & efficient operation of the power station, ensuring compliance with environmental & regulatory limits.
• Leading the shift team through a successful shift, maintaining plant availability & performance, ensuring commercial targets are met.
• Coordinating team activities.
• Assisting in managing the sites safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as an Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching and carrying out isolations (preferably with experience up to 132kv)
• Implementing H&S policies & processes and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties, this includes reviews and personal l Development Plans
• Working within the Company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

• HNC qualified in a relevant engineering field as a minimum (HND preferred)
• Qualified to City and Guilds Level 3 in Power Plant Operation
• Experience working on the Operations Team of a power station or relevant industry.
• Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and Permits to Work, in a similar setting.
• Willing to work shifts.
