The AQS Role:



This is a site-based role that involves working closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor ( QS ) to provide commercial and contractual administration support for projects. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor ( AQS ) your responsibilities will include identifying opportunities that offer the best value to our clients, maximizing profitability, and mitigating commercial risks. You will be an integral part of the site management team, ensuring that contract objectives and margins are met.



The projects typically involve fast-paced utility streetworks. While the role may be challenging, it provides an excellent foundation in Quantity Surveying disciplines and offers significant opportunities for personal and professional development. 



This position is well-suited for recent graduates with or without post-graduate experience. Alternatively, we will also welcome applications from school leavers with A-Levels who are interested in pursuing a Degree Apprenticeship route.



Responsibilities include:




  • Assist the Project QS in various duties, gradually taking on more responsibility as your training and competency progress.

  • Measure and value works using methods such as Bill of Quantities (BoQ) or Schedule of Rates.

  • Prepare interim applications for payment.

  • Prepare and settle final accounts.

  • Procure sub-contracts.

  • Handle sub-contract valuations and final accounts.

  • Administer Early Warning Notices (EWN) and Compensation Events (CE) 

  • Prepare quotations for Compensation Events (CEs).

Requirements:




  • Three A-levels or equivalent (B-Tec/HND).

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or actively working towards obtaining this qualification.

  • Alternative qualifications considered: HND, HNC, BSc, BEng, construction/business-related degrees.
