Widener University is currently seeking a qualified applicant for a full-time, 10-month position on the Chester Campus beginning in Fall 2024 to teach in the graduate nursing program. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing, this role provides support to the academic and clinical preparation of future Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialists.The School of Nursing, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and recognized by the National League for Nursing as a Center of Excellence, is known for its collegial and supportive faculty environment. We offer comprehensive faculty mentorship, opportunities for faculty development, and exceptional opportunities for engagement both in the School of Nursing and the University.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):Essential duties:Design and deliver evidence-based lectures, labs and clinical instruction to AGCNS studentsDevelop, review, and revise the AGCNS curriculum for alignment with current healthcare trends and best practicesEngage in scholarly productivity as required by rank and tenure earningMentoring and advisement of studentsParticipate in student recruitmentMentor and advise students in DNP projects and/or PhD dissertation work based upon experienceEngage in service to the university, School of Nursing, and the communityContribute to an environment that promotes diversity, inclusivity, growth, equality and freedom of speechSecondary responsibilities:Develop continuing education opportunitiesFoster interprofessional learning experiencesClinical practice as required by advanced practice certificationOpportunity for volunteer practice and work with AGCNS students in the Widener Community Nursing Clinic. The clinic offers pro bono medical care to uninsured/underserved residents in the surrounding communitiesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):Required:Earned Research Doctorate (PhD, EdD) in nursing or related field (required for tenure-track) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (Clinical Track)Current Multistate Compact License as a Registered Nurse or Pennsylvania RN licensure (or US RN licensure and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania)Licensure as an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist in PennsylvaniaCertification as an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS)Active clinical practiceFive years academic teaching experience with responsibilities for teaching graduate nursing programsPreferred:Current appointment as an Assistant/Associate Professor in a comparable institutionPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:May require teaching in the evening and participation in recruitment events in the evening and on weekends.All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
