Who we're looking forWe're looking for an Assistant Portfolio Manager to join Cazenove Charities, which is part of the Schroders group. Someone who is passionate about delivering excellent client service and investment management for our clients.
We want someone who can work alongside our Portfolio Managers, with the desire and curiosity to learn their job as well as your own. You'll do it by getting to grips with the analysis, checks and balances that keep our clients' portfolios in great shape.
You'll be busy, hands-on and can-do. Learning your way around the foundations of investment. Tuning in to clients' needs. And keeping Portfolio Managers informed and up to date.

The teamCazenove Charities is the specialist charity investment department within the Schroders Group. We employ a team of over twenty five portfolio directors, managers and support staff who are all based together in our London office. We offer a range of investment solutions supported by the significant research capabilities and breadth of investment expertise of the Schroders' Group, which we apply to suit our clients' individual circumstances. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with our charity clients, and the charity sector as a whole, with a full events programme and thought leadership on best practice in charity investment. The Charities business manages assets of circa £12 billion on behalf of 1,700 charity clients and are the largest UK investment manager of charitable assets.

What you'll do• This is an exciting career development opportunity to be part of a team helping charities and endowments to make the most of their assets. Our clients are purpose-led investors and include Oxbridge colleges, universities, charities and foundations. • The individual would support a number of Portfolio Managers and Directors in the charity team, helping them manager their client relationships and investments. • This is an ideal role for someone looking to demonstrate their ability to communicate with clients and manage investment portfolios effectively. • Assist the Portfolio Managers and Directors in managing clients' portfolios in line with agreed investment mandate, benchmarks and restrictions.• Within each asset class, assist in the recommendation and, with the approval of the PM and PD, action any changes to underlying securities and/or funds in line with appropriate models and funds buy-list.• Be an additional point of contact at Cazenove Capital Management when the PM and PDs are not available or busy and, therefore, to develop a relationship of trust with the clients.• Handle other administrative duties in a timely manner. This would include new client take-on forms, Strategic Asset Allocation comparisons, client cash flow projections and portfolio analysis, and assist in proposal and client meeting preparation.• To react to all client related enquiries in a timely manner and maintain a record of responses.• Execute trades in client portfolios in line with appropriate mandates.• Check bargains, monitor outstanding deals and report/monitor errors. • Instruct the transfer team regarding stock transfers between portfolios and to/from external managers for clients transferring in/out.• You will be required to proactively write strategy reviews, for existing clients to ensure portfolios are positioned in line with their potentially changing financial position and the opportunity set looking forward• The role will provide exposure to trustees with significant financial experience as well as those who have made outstanding contributions to the charity / philanthropy sector• The individual will be able to talk to clients about how we integrate sustainability into our investment process and the benefits this brings to the client. • Work alongside the PM and PD to ensure portfolios follow house model changes and continue to align portfolios with appropriate models• Engage with the sector more broadly by attending conferences and sector events to help better understand the challenges and opportunities that exist in the charity sector.• Undertake annual client suitability reviews to ensure that the investment mandate remains suitable to the charity. Also ensure performance dispersion is minimised across the client base when the mandate and risk profile is similar.• Combine regular daily tasks with longer term projects with varying deadlines whilst responding to incoming enquiries.• Contribute to business development including preparing investment proposals
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need• (Preferred) Hold the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) qualification, or equivalent Level 4 FCA approved qualification;*• Willingness to study the CISI Masters in Wealth Management or equivalent FCA approved qualification.• Have an interest in working with charities, endowments and foundations in a professional or personal capacity as well as a focus on Sustainability • Excellent IT skills, especially with the Microsoft Office suite• An interest in global financial news and markets• Excellent communication skills and an ability to multi-task
