As an Assistant Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of our removal operations. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Excellent communicator and experienced in managing people, fostering teamwork, and promoting a collaborative environment.
Overseeing daily operations, including resource allocation, team briefings, equipment booking, and external resource/labour coordination.
Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including collecting daily defect sheets, monitoring equipment checklists, and providing adequate training and PPE.
Managing Waste Transfer notes, timesheets, and operational profitability in line with company budgets.
Supporting business development and client management efforts as required.
Coordinating day-to-day activities, assigning resources efficiently, and seeking operational efficiencies.
Liaising with warehouse operatives and coordinating associated activities.
Negotiating rates, managing costs effectively, generating purchase orders, and assessing suppliers.
Providing excellent customer service administration, verifying work information sheets, and handling carton deposits promptly.
Advising on resource availability, pricing, and delivery of products to clients.
People management, including training, development, performance management, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
Monitoring vehicle compliance with transport regulations, supervising driving hours, and collaborating with removal crews for efficient operations.
Acting as Deputy for Operations Manager when needed.
The role will involve some travel nationwide and may involve occasional overnight stays in lodgings.
RequirementsExcellent knowledge of the removals sector and understanding of associated procedures and legal requirements.Proficient IT skills and preferably hold a CPC qualification at a National Level.Experience in planning work schedules and numerate skills essential for operations management.Strong communication, leadership, and management skills to efficiently lead a successful team.Ability to problem-solve using own initiative in the face of day-to-day challenges.Flexibility and willingness to support removals teams as required.
