Assistant Instructor with Enstruct TrainingFull time. Permanent / Salary £19220We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant Instructor within our Environmental and Outdoor Learning Department. This role involves providing support to Instructors and students accessing our Alternative Provision programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Outdoor education and or the Land Based sector, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring. If you are dedicated to supporting young people to succeed, we encourage you to apply.Our assistant instructors support the delivery of bespoke, inspiring outdoor learning programmes to young people ranging from age 5 – 19. The vast majority have additional learning and SEMH needs and most are secondary school age. They require individualised methods and enthusiastic, patient support.Programmes often include activities such as allotment development, coppicing, practical conservation tasks, fence and path creation, food growing, hiking, campfire cooking, shelter-building, woodcrafts and traditional games.Sessions may take place within school grounds or at local woodlands or allotments. Some groups follow Forest School programmes and some gain land-based qualifications. Our programmes provide an inclusive, alternative education which is more relevant and accessible to their needs.Our young people attend one day per week throughout the entire academic year and work within small groups alongside a team of Instructors and Assistant Instructors who facilitate their learning with engaging activities whilst providing a calm, welcoming and inclusive environment.This role is unique and incredibly rewarding. At all times be aware of safeguarding and child protection reporting processes2. Form trusting relationships with young people and get to know them as individuals3. Proactively promote Enstruct’s R.E.D.I.E expectations (Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement)4. Assist instructors in preparing lesson materials and setting up practical demonstrations.5. Provide one-on-one support to students during construction activities, offering guidance and assistance as needed.6. Demonstrate proper working techniques and safety procedures to students.7. Help maintain safe and organized learning environments.8. Assist with the assessment of student performance and provide constructive feedback.9. Collaborate with instructors to develop innovative teaching methods and instructional materials.10. Offer technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance to students encountering challenges during practical exercises.11. Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on industry trends.12. Support students in understanding relevant theory and concepts through supplementary explanations and examples.13. Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the departments equipment and tools.Requirements:1. A vocational or technical qualification in construction or a related field is preferred.2. Proven experience of working within Outdoor Learning and or the Land Based sector, with hands-on expertise in various techniques and materials.3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.4. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining safe operational environments.5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.6. Patience and empathy when working with students who may have varying levels of experience and skill.7. Familiarity with basic teaching principles and instructional techniques is an advantage.8. Commitment to upholding safety standards and promoting best practices.9. Proficiency in using common tools and equipment.10.
