MDE is currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Grid Connections Engineer to join a leading developer specialising in the delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the UK, USA, and Australia.
In addition to its core focus on utility-scale renewables, particularly solar and battery storage, the company also offers distributed energy solutions and grid support infrastructure.
Job Overview:
The Assistant Grid Connections Engineer will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of grid connection projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector and contribute to the growth and success of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of grid connection projects for renewable energy installations.
Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate grid connection options and requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
Support the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for grid connection applications.
Assist in coordinating grid connection activities with contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Conduct technical analyses and simulations to assess the impact of grid connection on system performance and reliability.
Participate in on-site inspections, commissioning activities, and testing of grid-connected equipment and systems.
Provide technical support and assistance to project managers, engineers, and other team members as needed.
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to grid connections.
Adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and project timelines to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Previous experience or coursework in grid connection design, renewable energy, or power systems is preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, PSS/E, and MATLAB, is desirable.
Familiarity with grid codes, standards, and regulations governing grid connection projects.
