Assistant Designer

Are you a Designer specialising in Knitwear? I am looking for an Assistant Designer for a supplier based in Hinkley, Leicester. My client specialises in seamless, luxurious knitwear for premium and specialist brands ensuring maximum comfort with minimum waste.
I am now seeking a fantastic Assistant Knitwear Designer to join the team with commercial handwriting, passionate about knitwear and a team player.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Working with the Senior Designer to deliver a high quality of work to clients.
* Working closely with clients to meet deadlines and design briefs.
* Have the opportunity to travel to yarn shows, shopping trips, customer meetings and
Spinning Mills.
* Research and communicate the latest trends, colours, yarns.
* Working with the merchandise team to order yarn for sampling.
* Commercial awareness when speaking with clients.
* Awareness of yarn counts, fibres and qualities.
* Creating design boards for customers.
* Creating costing sheets for new samples
* Swatch development and new yarn development.
* Creating workbooks from scratch and deliver tech packs for the factory to follow.
* Creating workbooks for size sets/ graded specs ready for production in the factory.
About you:
* Minimum 1 years' experience within Knitwear industry
* Great attention to detail
* Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of garment construction
* Knitwear knowledge
* Love working in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience in producing tech packs, fitting garment and issuing comments.
* Good communication skills
* Degree in fashion design or knitwear design
* Highly organised person with ability to multitask.
* Ability to CAD
