Join our Finance department as our junior Business Controller to deliver impact in this role that brings high visibility and interaction with some of our Senior Management.Your new roleWorking under the guidance of the Business Controller, the successful candidate will work closely with other key stakeholders to understand project performance and report on Business performance. Regional office visits will be required to discuss financial performance on an adhoc basis.To thrive in this role, you’ll use your initiative and flexibility to improve commerciality and financial focus , drive a continuous improvement culture while developing & motivating your team to positively challenge and grow in this highly rewarding business.Your key responsibilities will be:Insights and Advisory: Develop and execute basic controlling tasks, such as forecasting revenue, conducting budget variance analysis, and providing insights into the income statement.Attending and presenting financial results where necessary and preparing relevant management information for key stakeholdersFoster financial and commercial focus with Project Managers and Project Owners through Project Reviews, Kick-offs, and Commercial reviewsPrepare, schedule, and lead monthly reviews with the Business Controller and other senior business stakeholders as requested.Conduct root cause analysis, including Staff Costs, Margins, Billing Ratio, and Non-Productive Time.Support the Budgeting and Forecasting Cycle for the Transport Market through consultation and review with key stakeholders.Effective Project Controlling:Utilise financial knowledge to support strategic projects and key accounts, offering advisory support on complex project setup, coordination, and international/strategic/framework agreements.Once embedded, leading a small team of project coordinators to drive effective project manintence across your portfolio, ensuring compliance and governance with wider project excellence and commercial policies.Help to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the market and business finance; leading CI initiatives and facilitating tool adoption and process delegationOrder: Governance – valid order capable of being accepted/Validation of Order Received booking/Work Breakdown Structure & disciplineDelivery: Efficient project controlling – Cost to complete, provisions etc/Effective project controlling – Risk / opportunity management of the portfolio, explanations / commentary on deviations/Challenge for margin improvement (off-shore delegation, efficiency, digital tools)/Capture variations/Working Capital/Hold Project Managers & Project Owners to account – Project reviews, Commercial reviewsCompletion: System housekeeping/Capture variations & ensure Settlements completed/Final account/Claims managed & closedYour new teamYou will be part of the Finance department in the UK who are committed to driving business performance through insightful analysis and impact with our internal stakeholders. You will have the support of an experienced team and will be given appropriate independence encouraged to use your initiative and bring your own ideas. These include: ACCA / CIMA Part qualified or a desire to study.
