PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: Please note that in order to be considered for this opportunity you will need to be eligible for SC (Secret Level) UK Security Clearance*Role OverviewWorking within a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for a world leader in the design and manufacture of satellite, spacecraft and their associated equipment the role primarily involves leading the Assembly Integration & Test (AIT) Mechanical team to the success of the mission. The role will promote and drive AIT standards ensuring engineering concepts are delivered to the shop floor in a controlled manner, your overall responsibility will be to ensure quality and process robustness through promotion of best practise within team and between disciplinesResponsibilitiesResponsible for the Mechanical Satellite element and lead the mechanical team on an ENS project through Phases A - ELeading a team of AIT engineers on the specific projectPlanning the mechanical team's activities on a weekly basis (including operations team) and implementing this planSupporting the use of 3Dx Delmia on the specific projectProduce specs from test requirements, write test plans, DDV, plans, AIT plans, test procedures and test reportsControl of all project MGSE, flight & support equipmentProduce Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) requirement specs from test requirements, operating and maintaining MGSEProducing test procedures and operating and maintaining optical alignment equipmentDesigning test equipment, overseeing its manufacture, and commissioningMechanical handling or spacecraft, instruments, payloads, solar arrays, antennas etcPrepare and carry out environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal) at unit, subsystem, instrument, and spacecraft level.Install and validate test instrumentationSupport propulsion testingHandling and installation of thermal hardwareMechanical integration and testing of electronic units, subsystems and instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, mechanical sub-systems, instruments, payloads and spacecraft and control the documentation associated with performing these tasksPyrotechnic handling, installation, and safetyPlan and control workload of the AIT team consisting of engineers and techniciansSkill SetEssentialSpacecraft Mechanical testing on prime projects is ESSENTIALAppreciation of satellite integration processes and project phasesUse of SAP or other ERP SystemUnderstanding of build documentation and the need for itDriving build quality through review of processes and implementation of improvementsManaging a team during day-to-day activities ensuring work is completed on time and the correct standardControlling and delivery of projects to budget and scheduleFace-to-face dealings with customers and suppliersWorked in volatile, high-pressure environments to resolve technical and personnel conflictsProduction of MGSE specs and operation of MGSE and flight hardwareProduction of high-quality documentation (test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans, DDV plans)Be able to travel overseas to work for short periods (typically 2-3months, could be 6-7 months on occasions)Highly motivated and possess good problem-solving skills.DesirableProducing test procedures and operating and maintaining optical alignment equipmentAny prior launch campaign experience would be hugely beneficial
