The service you will work in….


Our Domestic Abuse service aims to provide holistic, trauma informed care and support to women and children, to re-build their lives and begin their recovery journey. This position will manage multiple refuges, and some outreach Independent Domestic Violence Adviser services. 


A day in this role looks like….


As an Area Manager at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Domestic Abuse service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence. You will work in partnership internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the highest standard of care of our service users, create to a positive and enabling culture in the service, increase quality assurance processes, and support the team deliver the best services possible.


The role is varied and fulfilling. A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:



  • Be a positive member of Hestia's senior operations team, ensuring effective delivery to Hestia's organisational​​.

  • Contribute to the development of Hestia's strategic objectives and organisational annual planning processes.​​

  • Developing an Area Plan that links to Hestia's organisational aims and values, ensuring that this is delivered effectively across services.​​

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve service delivery in line with achieving required outcomes by developing a SMART annual, integrated business plan for your area.​​

  • Work with the New Business and Development Team to identify new business opportunities, inform Hestia's tender submissions and bring new services into management through careful implementation planning and processes in consultation with the to address capacity.​​

  • Develop professional partnerships with other voluntary and statutory ​sector providers to inform better practice and develop a collaborative approach to service planning and delivery for a wide range of service users. ​​

  • Ensure that services meet their contractual and legal obligations through ​an effective programme of scheme audits, and that satisfactory health and safety systems are in place.​​

  • Work with internal colleagues regarding external messaging to influence and provide solutions at Local and Central level. Management of Resources.

  • Plan, negotiate and manage the budget and ensure that income and expenditure are in line with projected figures and mitigate for any variance. ​​

  • Create clear vision and direction through leadership and expertise to local service management and their staff teams, and as part of the wider management role within Hestia.​​

  • Keep up to date with relevant professional developments, legal, regulatory, technical information and best practice, and apply this to the management of services and the development of local Managers.​​

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:



  • Significant experience of leading complex operational teams and performance improvement. 

  • Significant experience of line managing middle-to senior staff members. 

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately. 

  • Significant experience of Housing Management  and leading services supporting a breadth of Service User needs. 

  • Experience of managing dispersed teams across multiple sites.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience to manage multiple complex budgets. 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the social care and health markets, models of service provision and the commissioning and regulatory environment.

  • Excellent communications skills both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability and experience to transform services that are not meeting local or organisational KPI's and extensive knowledge and good practice in supporting women and children, and experience in all types of all forms VAWG.

  • Good oral, written, administration and IT communication skills.

  • Ability to use IT to support both scrutiny and delivery of work, including using new systems.

  • Willingness to engage in Senior On Call & travel to various sites.
