Summary of Job:
We are looking for a strong leader and confident practitioner with experience of working with people with a learning disability and/or mental health needs. The individual will need significant supervisory and management experience and be able to lead and co-ordinate the delivery of personalised accommodation and community based services for people with a learning disability or mental health diagnosis across the West Midlands.
The services you will be responsible for provide personalised support to people with learning disabilities, people who are on the autistic spectrum, other health led and/or complex needs.The service provides support in a variety of accommodation settings to include to 24 hour residential and supported living services, and floating community support.
You will be required to hold the registration with the CQC for the supported living services and provide direct supervisory support for the registered manager for our residential service. You will line manager a team of managers as part of your role.
You will be skilled in assessment and support planning, ensuring services use a variety of methods such as communication pathways and the implementation of positive behaviour support plans alongside managing and supporting BILD accredited physical intervention strategies where these are an integral part of an individuals personalised package of support and all legal requirements that support this.
You will be responsible for continuing to embed a culture of personalised care and support and striving to achieve excellence in the quality of service provision in the West Midlands.
You will be required to develop an intricate knowledge of contractual expectations between Creative Support and the local authority and CCG. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of budgets to ensure effective financial performance of the services in West Midlands.
You will be responsible for contributing and monitoring a robust quality KPI system to ensure services are compliant with the CQC KLOEs and contractual expectations of local authorities and CCGs.
You will demonstrate a transparent and positive approach when dealing with complaints in line with Creative Supports corporate policy and with the Duty of Candour.
You will work to enable people to develop an enjoyable and purposeful lifestyle and to access training, education and work opportunities, including volunteering and paid work.To achieve these positive outcomes you will be
focused and resilient
whilst offering a warm, compassionate and responsive service which focuses on the needs, preferences and concerns of the people we support; the services will promote wellbeing, mental and physical health, working alongside people to increase exercise, reduce smoking and to eat healthily.
You are a visible, hands-on manager and senior practitioner and should expect to spend much of your time in the services you are responsible for. You must have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate
unconditional positive regard
for the people we support.
You will at times be required to deputise in the absence of the Service Director.
Key Tasks:
i)To have responsibility for the development and operational management of a varied range of community support and supported living services for multiple clients groups within West Midlands. To ensure that the services provided are personalised and tailored to the individual needs and preferences of service users and their families.To ensure that all contract requirements and expectations are fully met and that a high quality service is provided at all times.
ii)To register and maintain the position of Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission for the services for which you are operationally responsible where this is a requirement of the service.
iii)To ensure that service users receive individualised person centred support which enables them to enjoy a fulfilling and valued life, to participate in the community and to enjoy well being and opportunities for personal development.
iv)To contribute to the wider development of Creative Supports services. To develop excellent partnerships and relationships with stakeholders and to ensure that Creative support has an excellent reputation.
1. Hours of Work:
Full time hours are based on a nominal 37.5 hours per week. To be worked flexibly according to the operational business needs of the service. The post holder will be expected to have a flexible approach to working hours in order to meet the needs of our staff and service users. There is a requirement to take part in a duty manager/senior on call system on a periodic basis for which additional payments are made. Significant travel may be required, including travel to our Head Office in Stockport.This post does not pay overtime unless specifically approved in advance.
2. Bank Holidays:
An enhancement is paid for working at Christmas and New Year. We do not pay enhancements for working evenings, weekends or any other public holiday.
3. Disclosure Checks:
All appointments will be subject to DBS enhanced disclosure and ISA checks.
4. Confidentiality:
All Creative Support employees must maintain confidentiality at all times, in accordance with the agreed policy. Any breach of confidentiality may lead to dismissal without notice. Guidance on standards expected can be found in the Employee Code of Conduct.
5. Probationary Period:
The first four months will constitute a probationary period. When this is successfully completed, employment will be confirmed.
6. Holidays:
30 days plus 8 statutory days pro rata.
