Salary: G4 £23,893 - £25,979 per annum Contract: Permanent, full-time Walsall Council’s Healthy Spaces Team manages and improves open and accessible green spaces, ensuring it is fit for future generations. The team delivers inclusive activities and events that meet local need and contribute towards positive health and wellbeing.We are looking to recruit a duty officer to run the arboretum visitor centre Monday to Friday. Location:Arboretum Visitor Centre, Walsall Arboretum Walsall, West Midlands Role Summary:The Arboretum Duty Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the popular arboretum visitor centre. As a key member of our team, you will supervise facilities, bookings, services, and customer interactions during assigned hours. Your attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and commitment to exceptional visitor experiences will contribute to the overall success of our arboretum. ResponsibilitiesFacility Management:
Handle facility hire inquiries, bookings, and coordination.
Set up facilities for events, workshops, and gatherings.
Process payments and issue invoices as needed.
Visitor Services:
Greet visitors and provide information about the arboretum.
Ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all guests.
Address visitor inquiries and resolve any issues promptly.
Building Operations: Supervise building maintenance during assigned hours.
Monitor security systems and respond to emergencies.
Collaborate with maintenance staff to address repairs and improvements. Qualifications:
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanour.
Experience in a front-line customer service capacity.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft office, cash handling and invoicing processes.
Existing First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake as part of the role.
English and Maths at GCSE grade 4 or above (or equivalent qualification)
Working Hours:This position is 37 hours per week and is intended to cover the centre during core office hours, although some occasional evening and weekend working may be required depending upon the needs of the service.
