Sheffield DocFest is looking for an AR Technician to join their team and support the delivery of their Alternate Realities Exhibition.About Sheffield DocFestSheffield DocFest is the UK’s leading documentary festival and one of the world’s most influential markets for documentary projects. Our programming represents our core values – creativity, empathy, freedom, inclusivity and internationalism.Sheffield DocFest is run by International Documentary Festival Sheffield, an independent registered charity (no.1184849).About the roleThe AR Technician is pivotal to the delivery of the Sheffield DocFest Alternate realities exhibition. They provide key technical support within the technical delivery of the exhibition to both the AR Programme Producer and the venue teams. They will have confidence and familiarity with VR equipment, interactive technology, tethering and trouble shooting to ensure the exhibition remains usable throughout the festival period.6 and 7 June 202410 to 17 June 2024 (festival weekend inclusive)Total days: 10 daysLocation:Sheffield and festival locations, primarily Site GalleryKey responsibilitiesTo assist with the install and production of technology aspects of Sheffield DocFest 2024 Alternate Realities (AR) ExhibitionTo provide support and ad-hoc training to AR team and XR hosts invigilating in the galleryTo support artists with installation and continuing exhibition of their works, ensuring appropriate set up, power, and maintenance is in place.To work with the Venue Coordinator in providing support for the Alternate RealitiesExhibition where needed, flagging issues for attention in a calm, professional and methodical manner.To manage loading of content onto headsets in the festival VR cinemaTo manage VR equipment in the festival VR cinema, maintaining headsets and ensuring a system of recharging and checking, ensuring spares are available, charged and well maintainedTo attend the dedicated training session with the Alternate Realities Production team and provide guidance to volunteers and XR hosts on proper use and support of the exhibitsTo adhere to Site Gallery safety requirements, assisting with maintaining clear walkways, proactively tidying as required, and undertaking any other required adjustmentsTo take every care of artists works and materials at install, de-rig and throughout the exhibitionTo assist the Volunteers with any technical issues that may arise where appropriate, and escalating to the Alternate Realities Production Team where necessaryTo ensure XR equipment, Headphones and other batteries are on charge and swapped out regularly as agreed between sessionsTo lead on morning setup and checks (as scheduled), ensuring that all works are up and running and optimised, and technical elements are switched on and off at the start and end of each day.To oversee and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of the space and the exhibitsAdditionalActively promote and support diversity and inclusion in all Sheffield DocFest’s activitiesAdhere to Sheffield DocFest health & safety policyAdhere to and actively participate in how Sheffield DocFest delivers on our commitment to the environmental policyEnsure all data stored is GDPR compliantCreate and maintain good working relationships with all Sheffield DocFest colleaguesBe an ambassador for Sheffield DocFest and maintain professional approach at all timesCommit to and uphold Sheffield DocFest values: creativity, empathy, freedom, inclusivity and internationalismThis role description is not exhaustive and other reasonable duties may be required by the post holder as relevant to their department and function.You are invited to apply for this role by submitting an up-to-date CV plus either:a covering letter (1 or 2 pages) that addresses the job description and criteria above; ora video letter (of up to 7 minutes in length), explaining what attracts you to the role and what you would bring to it.If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role prior to applying please contact, Sophie Newing, HR and Access Coordinator at:
