We currently have opportunities for two posts. These posts could either be appointed as a Band 7 preceptorship working towards an 8a position, or at an 8a depending upon skills and experience. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly. Both posts are permanent posts within the Durham and Darlington CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service - one at the North base (Stanley Primary Care Centre) and one at the South base (Sedgefield Hospital). These are both full time posts, but part time working will be considered. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including nurses, support works, speech and language therapists, as well as other psychologists and assistant psychologists. We also offer placements to trainee clinical psychologists. This vacancy is open to either a newly qualified Psychologist / Psychological Therapist or an experienced Psychologist / Psychological Therapist with appropriate Job Description and banding being applied accordingly to the successful candidate. Successful candidates who are newly qualified Psychologists/Psychological Therapists will be expected to work towards the competencies of the higher band within an agreed time frame being regraded to the 8a role upon successful completion.Main duties of the jobThe Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service provides assessment to children and young people where a question is raised around whether they may have a neurodevelopmental disorder (including but not limited to Autism/ADHD). We are seeking psychologists with a special interest and clinical experience in the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders. The post holders will contribute to the assessment and diagnostic decision making for school aged young people where there is a query about whether they may have autism and / or attentional difficulties. They will work within a multi-disciplinary team include Applied Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses and Speech and Language Therapists.About usThere is a well-established and supportive Psychological Professions Network within the wider Durham and Darlington Children and Young People's Service supported by a highly motivated team of senior managers and clinical leads. We encourage you to look at these resources as they will play a part in the interview process.Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesApplicants must have experience and an interest in working with young people with autism and attentional difficulties. They should have a good working knowledge of the diagnostic assessment process for autism and ADHD and awareness of differential diagnoses as part of these assessments. Applicants should have experience in conducting a range of standardised assessments, and it would be desirable if this included specialist neurodevelopmental assessments. They should be experienced in being part of (or leading, depending on experience and banding) complex formulations and providing comprehensive feedback to families and other agencies involved in a young persons care. The post holder should have the skills and experience to provide supervision, contribute to service evaluation, and manage the demands of service development and change. The post holders will need to travel to venues across County Durham and Darlington. Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist Trained in clinical supervision (within agreed timescale) Trained in care co-ordination (within agreed timescale) Evidence of continuing professional development
