The AE must be talented in both customer-facing tasks and detail-oriented, analytical tasks.The principal objectives of the role are:· To become a trusted power system protection applications consultant to internal and external customers· Provide pre-sales technical support and guidance on all protection and control related applications of Synaptec’s unique technology, both remotely and in person, based on sound engineering principles, practices, and standards applied in the power industry.· Add value to customer relationships by active participation in technical discussions and negotiations and proposing commercially feasible solutions.· Help sales team obtain purchase orders from the customer by delivering compelling proposals with inputs from engineering and operations teams.· Hand off commercial orders to project engineering, and support them by liaising with business partners, and end users, as and when required, to successfully deliver commercial projects.· Maintain a high level of competency and currency in power system instrumentation requirements and existing technologies, understanding how Synaptec solutions position competitively to meet customers’ requirements better, and use these insights to convince and reassure customers that Synaptec’s approach is preferable.· To ensure functional specification of Synaptec technologies.· Identify future application opportunities through regular interactions with supply chain partners and end-user customers to guide business development and technology roadmaps.· To improve Synaptec’s credibility in power system protection applications through professional and frequent customer and stakeholder interactions using all relevant media such as proposals, bids, presentations, case studies, conference papers, and meetings.The candidate must be able to demonstrate:· Minimum 7 years of work experience in power transmission, distribution, or generation sector· Proven track record of designing or implementing protection solutions at medium to high voltage levels· Hands-on experience with setting up and testing of protection relays and related substation equipment· Working knowledge of instrument transformers, SCADA communication systems, factory and site testing and IEC 61850 standard.· Experience in preparing and delivering high-quality technical documents, presentations and proposals to clients and colleagues.· Experience with interdisciplinary team-working within the power sector· Self-motivation and an ability to work independently, efficiently, and rigorously including the ability to manage own time and workload.· An excellent degree in Electrical or Power engineering· Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills and attitude, with an ability to convey technical information in clear and simple terms.· A desire and ability to travel within the UK and abroad to meet customers and partners and to be an ambassador for a new technology.Differentiating criteria· Customer facing and technical sales experience in the field of power system protection equipment.· Advanced protection and control system applications knowledge within T&D sector.· Experience with latest power system instrumentation and measurement technologies.· Site testing and commissioning experience· Commercial acumen and ability to identify and express customer needs in a way they appreciate and respond well to.· Master’s degree in Electrical or Power systems engineering.· Ethical private healthcare· Invention bonus scheme· Flexible and hybrid working· Cycle-to-work scheme and secure bicycle parking· Discounted gym membership· Glasgow city centre location with excellent public transport links.· Glasgow has a famously vibrant arts and culture scene and holds UNESCO Creative City of Music status.· We are an hour's train ride from the east and west coasts of Scotland, home to some of the most beautiful islands in the world.· To the north, we're an hour from Loch Lomond and access to the Scottish mountains.Seniority levelSeniority level Entry level Employment typeEmployment type Full-time Job functionJob function Engineering and Information Technology Industries Appliances, Electrical, and Electronics Manufacturing Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Synaptec by 2xGet notified about new
