mustardFX are teaming up with a Remote-First AAA Developer basedin the UK that has created and friendly and supportive environment for allstaff, specialising in Unreal Engine. As a Studio creating it’s ownAAA IP’s, they also work with some of the Top AAA studios as Co-Devfor a range of Genre-Defining AAA projects. Our Established Client iscurrently looking for an Animation Director to lead the Animation Team increating captivating and immersive animations & cinematic sequences forthe studios co-dev and internal projects. The Animation Director will playvital role in defining animation styles, maintaining quality standards,driving cinematic quality and ensuring that animations seamlessly integratewith gameplay mechanics. PLEASE NOTE: Our Client can only hire within theUK & Can Not offer Sponsorship. Salary: Circa £50,000 – £60,000(Depending on Experience) Responsibilities: Cinematic Direction &Strategy: Define the high-level visions and styles for animation andcinematics across multiple projects, aligning with the overall artisticdirection and narrative goals. Develop animation and cinematic pipelines,processes, and best practices to ensure efficiency and consistency acrossthe team. Collaborate with art/creative/design directors, alongsideproduction, to ensure that animations and cinematics enhance storytellingand player immersion. Team Leadership & Management: Lead and inspire ateam of animators, providing mentorship, guidance, and feedback to fostergrowth and skill development. Set clear expectations, goals, and prioritiesfor the animation team, ensuring alignment with project milestones anddeadlines. Work with cinematic designers, team leads and directors tocreate, iterate and finalise any cinematic sequences. Animation Production:Oversee the creation and pipelines for high-quality animations, includingkeyframe animation, motion capture integration, procedural animationtechniques, skinning, rigging, weight-painting and any other relevanttechniques. Work closely with animators to provide creative direction,solve technical challenges, and maintain consistency in animation quality.Where needed, research new animation technologies through R&D processesand integrate them into existing and new pipelines. Quality Assurance &Iteration: Conduct regular animation reviews and provide feedback to ensurethat animations meet quality standards and align with the project vision.Iterate on animations based on feedback from stakeholders, playtestingsessions, and usability testing to refine and polish character movements.Define what the “definitions of done” are for a project and use theseas a communication tool for the team and stakeholders throughout thedevelopment process. Client Relationship Building: Build and maintainrelationships with existing clients, whilst using the support of theanimation team to deliver confident and consistent high-quality delivery toprojects. Collaborate with new potential clients to understand theirspecifications and requirements, to help secure more projects for thecompany. Experience/Skills: A minimum of 7+ years of experience as anAnimator in the video game industry, with a proven track record ofcontributing to successful game projects. A strong artistic vision andcreative sensibility, with the ability to develop and communicate acohesive animation style that aligns with the project’s artisticdirection. Expertise in animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, orBlender, as well as experience with game engines like Unreal Engine orUnity. Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspireand motivate a team of animators and cinematic designers to achieveexcellence A comprehensive portfolio showcasing your animation and/orcinematic expertise, including examples of various animation styles andrelevant game-related work. Bonus Experience/Skills: Experience in pitchdeck creation and presenting.
