Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of technical support, investigation, and creation/provision of approved data in support of the fleet.
  • Liaising with CAMO, Maintenance, and the OEM, the Airworthiness Engineer supports the Technical Airworthiness Office (TAO) in all airworthiness and design activities.
  • The role includes the review or compilation of design documents, such as Service Bulletins, Technical Reports, and Technical Bulletins.
  • Assistance and review of changes to Technical Publications (Technical Orders, ICA, etc.).
  • Creates or assists with the analysis of the reliability and safety of the type design, covering structures, avionics, systems, etc.
  • Liaising with and assisting the DOA Design Engineers as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Aviation Safety Management System Manual.
  • Supporting the TAO, CAMO, and CAA for Platform Integrity Management.
  • Acting as TAO in their absence.
  • Working closely with the maintenance manager and TAO to understand how practical solutions can be found to design problems.


Experience / Skills / Qualifications

  • A broad aviation engineering background.
  • Practical knowledge of UK Civil Aircraft airworthiness principles and practices - Industry-related and proven experience in a similar role.
  • Practical application-level knowledge of CAA and Military Aviation Regulations (A8-21, Part 21, DAOS, A8-25/CAMO, A8-23/Part 145).
  • Practical application-level knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 as applicable in the aviation environment.
  • Practical application-level knowledge of Safety Management System principles and requirements as applicable in the aviation environment.
  • Engineering Degree - Advantageous.
  • Engineering HNC/HND or equivalent experience - Advantageous.
  • Able to hold a Security Check (SC) level security clearance.
  • A Member of a Professional Engineering Institution (e.g., Royal Aeronautical Society) - Advantageous.
  • An Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the (UK) Engineering Council - Advantageous.
