Job DescriptionAbout Myria BiosciencesMyria Biosciences is a startup from ETH Zürich, MPI Marburg, and HIPS Saarbrücken innovatively designing nature to tackle global health issues. We specialize in combining synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, and high-throughput experimentation to engineer biosynthetic gene clusters, enabling the production of novel chemical substances with applications in pharma, biotech, and beyond. Myria is headquartered in Switzerland (Basel) with an AI/ML-focused operating site in the United Kingdom.About the RoleWe are looking for an AI Scientist to lead the AI activities and future team development at Myria’s, offering you the ability to tailor and develop the company with us. The successful candidate will be based in the United Kingdom but should also be able to travel between the UK and Switzerland.Key Responsibilities●Database management skills for machine learning applications●Conduct complex data analysis related to biosynthetic gene clusters and their products for the suggestions of future rounds of experiments.●Feature engineering by creating and using existing tools with regards to chemistry and biology (DNA, proteins, compounds)●Collaborate with the wet-lab team to help guide and develop information reach prediction tools and expand our in-house datasets.●Evaluate and improve the accuracy and effectiveness of existing and new machine learning models.●Create data visualizations and reports.●Exchange and expand our network with researchers and entities regularly, remote, and on-site in Basel.●Be able to plan current and future projects development.Minimum Qualifications●Master degree in computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, or a related field.●Proficient in Python or R and in writing complex scripts and programs.●Experience in working with large, complex biological datasets.●Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.●Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Advantageous Qualifications●Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.●Knowledge in the use and training of large language models (e.g., GPT-3) and graph machine learning techniques.●Familiarity with bioinformatics tools (e.g., protein structure prediction and genome analysis).●Knowledge of molecular biology, enzymology, and synthetic biology concepts.●Software development experience in a collaborative environment.Why Join Myria?●Work in a cutting-edge field at the intersection of synthetic biology and AI.●Encounter the motivating, dynamic, and inspiring working environment of a young startup.●Help to reshape the future of global health solutions.●Opportunity to work remotely, offering a flexible work-life balance.Are you interested and want to know more?
