A true testament to Kingsley’s caring ethos.In collaboration with Dementia UK, Kingsley Healthcare are looking to recruit an exceptional, registered nurse (adult/mental health/learning disability) with a passion for, and experience of, providing relationship-centred dementia care to launch an exciting new Admiral Nurse service.
Reports to: Home Manager/Deputy Manager/Clinical Lead
Purpose of the Role:
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with and support people with dementia and their families who have complex needs. As an Admiral Nurse you will provide specialist one-to-one support, guidance and practical solutions for families, alongside supporting best practice and providing role modelling for care home staff in a select group of Kingsley’s care homes. This service mainly covers three of Kingsley’s Dorset based care homes (Queen Charlotte, Highcliffe and Branksome Heights) with monthly provision to a fourth home in Northamptonshire (Brackley).
Dementia UK will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical and leadership expertise as a specialist Admiral Nurse through regular clinical supervision and practice and professional development opportunities. You will become a welcome part of a network of Admiral Nurses, and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate training and develop professionally, informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Dementia expertise - Possess specialised knowledge and expertise in dementia care by staying updated on the latest research, treatments, and best practices in the field of dementia.
Assessment and care planning- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the individual's needs and develop personalised care plans. This involves considering the person's physical, emotional, and social well-being, as well as the needs of their family.
Emotional support - Provide emotional support to individuals living with dementia and their families. Offering a listening ear, guidance, and reassurance during difficult times, helping them to cope with the challenges and emotional impact of dementia.
Education and advice - Provide education and practical advice to staff and families, helping them understand dementia and its progression. Offering guidance on managing symptoms, behaviour changes, communication techniques, and strategies to enhance quality of life.
Coordination of care - Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and social workers, to ensure a holistic approach to care. Coordinate services and interventions, facilitating access to appropriate support networks and resources.
Training and consultancy - Provide training and consultancy services to staff in our care homes by sharing their expertise and promoting best practices in dementia care.
Skills and Attributes:
Experience of supporting people with dementia and their carers/families
Experience in service specific setting, of leading/managing a service, supporting practice development/ quality improvement and service evaluation.
Understanding of local/national skills and competency frameworks
Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel between care homes with some overnight stay, as required.

Education and Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN/RNMH/RNLD)
Postgraduate qualification in relevant field
