The Role

Do you possess a minimum of three years’ experience in accountancy or finance system administration, with the proven ability to deal with accounts and tax software? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are a well-established chartered accountant, looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Senior to our growing team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive financial services to our valued clients. Your primary responsibility will be to support our managers in delivering accurate and timely bookkeeping, payroll, end-of-year accounts, VAT, and Tax calculations services.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To support the Managers to provide accurate and timely bookkeeping, payroll, end of year accounts, VAT and Tax calculations service to business clients
  • Prioritising /preparing/ administering client emails and letters.
  • Updating and maintaining manual and digital client accounting information systems
  • Preparing finalised accounts, VAT, Tax detailed reports
  • To review accounts team members administration workload and assist in prioritising, planning, organising and undertaking accounts work tasks in line with client business and UK tax legislative requirements.
  • To liaise with Company clients and help them with finance or accounts related queries as required via the telephone or in person.
  • To facilitate and undertake client meetings via the provision of timely, organised data and management information.
  • To help organise and manage office manual filing and digital client information databases systems and develop / improve these in line with ongoing business requirements.

The Person


  • At least three years’ experience of working in an accountant’s office or finance system administrator role preparing accounts, bookkeeping for sole traders, partnerships and companies. Ability to deal with accounts and tax software.
  • Minimum 3 Highers, 5 national 5 grade qualifications including Maths and English
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal team members, external clients and business contacts.
  • Numerate with the ability to prepare annual tax returns both personal and partnership and have a sound working tax knowledge.
  • Ability to prepare vat returns with excellent vat knowledge.
  • Computerised payroll processing experience.
  • Good PC skills and understanding of MS Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including professional interpersonal skills and friendly telephone manner.
  • Confident in dealing with clients and work colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
