Our client is a national courier company offering same-day, UK overnight and international deliveries throughout the UK and Europe with a base at Birmingham AirportThey now have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller/Assistant Finance Manager to join the team at their offices at Birmingham Cargo office. This role has excellent opportunities for growth into the Finance Manager role due to retirement of the current incumbent.Your role will involve the following responsibilitiesProduce and reconcile the daily cash position by reference to banks and known future payments.Handling invoices for clearanceInput purchase invoicesProduce Payments and aged creditors reportsSend Weekly Insurance DeclarationDeal with any new claims for accident damage vehicles/ goods in transit etc. when arising.Liaise with Insurance Brokers/Appointed Solicitors for ongoing claimsManage Direct Debits when needed.New starter files and contracts of employment as required.Complete P46 Cars as necessaryEmployee Notices and letters as required.Disciplinary Invites, minutes and letters as required.Chasing debts as required.Company forms, licences, assisting with tenders as required.Dealing with Tax and VAT authorities when requiredAssisting Directors as required.Helping and assisting with preparation for management accountsSalaries and pensionsQuarterly Vat returnsEnd of Year accounts, summaries at Salary year end, shutdown for new tax year, P11Annual Returns for various companies as requested by Companies House, Input of Audit adjustment, final journals and Sage shutdown procedures for new financial yearIn order to apply for this role, you will be an experienced Senior Accounts Officer / Accounts Controller / Accounts Assistant Manager with a broad accounting background who can assist the Head of Finance in the short term, then take on further duties allowing him to reduce his working hours medium term with the plan for your role to develop into the Finance Manager in the future due to his retirementThe ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in a senior accounts role for a small business and done a bit of everything in terms of accounts and who likes a varied role.
