About The ServiceThis post is within the Accountancy section of Finance. The Accountancy section has qualified and experienced accountants providing professional financial advice and accountancy support to all directorates, schools and a range of outside bodies and joint committees for both revenue and capital accounting. The successful applicant will work in the Capital, Treasury, Corporate and Control Team providing and supporting the Accountancy control activities.About the jobThe candidate will be required to actively ensure controls exist, and are put into practice, for all inputs and outputs of the income management system and financial ledger. They will support the implementation of new initiatives and requirements in relation to the Council's income and payment processes.The candidate will also be required to undertake reconciliations of bank accounts and ledger control accounts ensuring that all issues are proactively resolved.The post will involve working closely with team members, accountants, other Finance sections, ICT, other directorates, the Council's banking services provider and external auditors to meet objectives.What We Are Looking For From YouCandidates should hold a relevant financial qualification i.e. CCAB, AAT or part qualified CCAB and have good knowledge of local government finance as well as a desire for continuous development.Good communication and computer skills, particularly in relation to the financial management system, are essential as is the ability to learn quickly, undertake complex reconciliations and produce a high standard of work within challenging deadlines.Additional informationThis post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Basic checks.This vacancy is suitable for post share.We welcome applications in both English and Welsh.
