Account Director ESG & Sustainability

The role: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, accomplished sustainability practitioner, looking to step up and take on a significant role within a successful, growing ESG team. Your role will be to co-lead the development and implementation of ESG strategies, reporting and campaigns to promote and protect the ESG activities and reputations of corporates across multiples sectors, from financial services to retail. This is a number two role, reporting to the Head of the Sustainability team, but will have significant responsibility for existing clients and business development. Your role will be pivotal to the ongoing growth of the team and have a strong international component. To excel in this role, you will need to have natural leadership skills, the ability to inspire and to build confidence in clients, client stakeholders and internal client service teams. You will have an entrepreneurial, creative mindset, yet strong analytical ability and exposure to complex multifaceted scenarios and issues. Responsibilities: Manage Client Accounts & Build Trusted Relationships: Provide strategic counsel and guidance to senior business leaders on ESG and sustainability issues confidently and maturely in a wide variety of fields including, but not limited to: ESG strategies and issue analysis, sustainability reporting, reputation management, strategic content development, corporate narrative development, audience and conversation mapping, ESG and investor relations Issues analysis and project management: Identify and analyse major sustainability trends to share relevant implications for corporate clients. Lead full end-to-end ESG narrative and communications projects, from the development of insights, strategy, content development and activation. Business Development: Help develop and expand client relationships; identify potential leads and areas of growth within existing clients as well as broader new business leads. Leadership & Mentoring: Provide mentoring and coaching to junior team members; support their development and be a source of constructive feedback, knowledge share, ideas and experience. Experience Required: 4-5 years of experience gained in a comparable professional capacity, with a specific focus on ESG and sustainability reporting and disclosure Intellectual rigor, excellent analytical and insights capabilities and effective problem solving Strategic level understanding of core ESG issues, in particular investor attitudes and trends within ESG, regulatory trends and issue-specific knowledge Excellent organizational, time and priority management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects at once alongside an active interest in digital innovation and current affairs University degree BA or higher in business, politics, communications, content/marketing, digital/social data or insights Candidate should be mature, results-oriented, and able to work independently, while also leading and working closely with client teams It is essential that candidates have a permanent right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
