RECRUITMENT POLICY
Bayswater operates a strict safer recruitment policy and all staff will havechecks on their suitability to work with children.
All applicants will be required to supply an up-to-date CV (any gaps inemployment history must be explained satisfactorily) and the contactdetails of two suitable referees (current or former employers) which willbe checked prior to employment. The referees will be asked specificallyabout your suitability to work with children.
All employees will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure &Barring Service) check unless they provide details of their DBS UpdateService subscription. Appropriate local police checks will be required fromapplicants living overseas or having lived or worked overseas in the last 3years.
All employees will be expected to provide proof of identity and all relevantqualifications (originals only) – copies will be taken for our records.
RATES OF PAY
The weekly base rate of pay for an Accommodation & Welfare Manager is£635 per week.
Accommodation and meals will be provided free of charge.
You are entitled to statutory holiday entitlement of 5.6 weeks holiday prorata.
The salary will depend on applicant’s experience, size of centre and thenumber of students at the centre.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN
ACCOMMODATION AND WELFARE
MANAGER
As one of the members of the management team, you will be responsible fora variety of tasks integral to the smooth running of the campus.
Each day will be slightly different depending on whether it's a weekday or abusy weekend of arrivals and departures, so no two days will be the same!One of your main responsibilities is taking care of accommodation, ensuringthat the rooming lists are kept up-to-date and that any maintenance issuesare reported and followed up on. In addition, you'll keep track of room keysand deposits, and make sure the rooms are left in perfect condition for thenext student.
The welfare of our students is paramount and the AWM plays a major part inensuring students' well-being is always at the forefront of everything we do.That's why you will be in charge of checking PCFs (Parental Consent Forms)and keeping a record of important information such as medical conditionsand dietary needs. This you will pass on to the rest of your team so that theycan provide any necessary support for the students.
As part of the AWM role, you will liaise with the HO transport team to planthe weekend's arrivals and departures. This will mean making sure studentsknow the time of their coach/taxi transfers and that they get safely to andfrom the airport. You'll also use this information to plan your catering orders,so that students who arrive later in the evening can still enjoy a packeddinner.

Where are Bayswater Summer’s centres?

Where is head office?
Bayswater Education’s head office is based at the original year-roundcollege in Bayswater, London. Many of our staff work from home, so if you’reinterested in meeting somebody from the team, please email to find outwhat days we’ll be working from the office.
I am available in August but not in July. Can I still work for Bayswater?
The Accommodation & Welfare Manager is integral to the running of theSummer camp. Therefore, for this role, we require you to be available for theduration of the programme.
I am not a UK citizen - can I still work for you?
If you have a working visa and/or relevant permission to work in the UK,then yes. We will need to see proof of your right to work in the UK prior tooffering you a contract. We’re unable to sponsor Visa applicants. You’ll alsoneed a valid National Insurance number and a UK bank account.
How long will my contract be?
This will depend on the centre. All of our centres have different opening andclosing dates due to campus availability and student availability. Contractswill vary from 4 – 9 weeks.
How many hours per week will I work?
You will typically work 6 days a week and approximately 48 hours per weekwhich will include residential duties, administrative work, planning ofaccommodation and airport transfers, and student supervision such asmealtimes and curfew/bedtime. Your duties may also include activities, localvisits and excursions.
Can you provide me with accommodation?
Yes, all Accommodation & Welfare Managers will be residential with fullboard.
How many days off will I get?
You will be given one day off per week. This day will vary depending on thecentre and it’ll be confirmed by your Centre Manager.
Can I choose where I will work?
We will take your preferred centres into consideration. However, locationsdepend on the dates available, the quantity of staff needed and the numberof students attending the centre. If you know a certain town/city particularlywell, that will help your application for that location.
Will I only work at one centre?
This depends on your general availability. It is possible to work at multiplecentres. Some of our centres finish earlier in the summer, so there could bethe possibility to fill openings at other centres as the summer progresses.This can be discussed during your interview.
Will I be able to use Bayswater Summer as a reference for futureemployers?
Training
Will I have to attend training before my centre opens?
Yes, we will be holding training in London in the last week of June.
Will I need to prepare anything before attending the training day?
You will need to complete a short online Safeguarding course before arrival,as well as Prevent Duty training. Details will be sent out nearer the time.
What do I need to bring to the induction?
During the recruitment process we will ask you to email copies of yourpassport and any relevant qualifications. It is essential that you bring theoriginals to the induction day.
Working at a Bayswater Summer Centre
You report to the Centre Manager.
What happens on the day that I arrive at the centre?
Typically, you will meet the rest of the management team and becomefamiliar with your centre surroundings. The Centre Manager will brief theother managers and you will have time to check that the arrivals informationand rooming list are ready for our first groups of students. You will alsocheck the rooms before they arrive, to make sure there are no maintenanceissues.
Where do the students come from and how old are they?
Most of our students come from Italy, Brazil and China, but we welcomestudents from many other countries including Spain, Germany, Argentina,Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Ukraine, Romania, Laos, Uruguay and more.
The mix of students you have will depend on which centre you are in andwhat period. You could have a mix of twelve different nationalities, or justone or two.
The vast majority of our students will be aged 12-17, although on somecourses, there may also be 18-year-olds.
How many students will there be in my centre?
There will be between 40-500 students in your centre at any one time. Thenumber of students will depend on which centre you are placed in.
Do I have to wear a uniform? Is there a dress code?
As an employee of Bayswater Summer you will be representing the companyby wearing a staff T-shirt or sweatshirt when on shift. The rest of your dresscan be casual, but must always remain appropriate. It’s important that youare always dressed appropriately for excursions and activities as well asmeeting with external/local agents.
Can I park at the centre?
