Our client is a leading gene synthesis company based in Cambridgeshire, offering a research and development based opportunity in their AAV team. This position is a great opportunity for someone to apply their expertise in developing Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors. The role is well suited to individuals with extensive existing experience in the AAV production and purification process, holding a relevant PhD, or an MSc with notable industry experience.The RoleThis position is suitable for PhD graduates who have undertaken research relevant to the development of synthetic DNA and AAV vectors, or MSc graduates with a similar level of industry experience. As an AAV Gene Delivery Scientist, you will be responsible for the following:Working to develop and optimise AAV vectors for the purpose of gene therapy,Using production and purification systems to produce AAVs to a sufficient standard,Iterating and improving AAV production using existing templates,Relevant molecular analysis of vectors, using molecular assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, qPCR, etc,Ensuring all data is valid, reliable, and recorded accurately,Following all SOPs and health and safety guidelines when using equipment,Supporting with other projects when required,Attending meetings, training, and development sessions when required,Undertaking roles and responsibilities that fall within your skills and experience.Skills and Experience NeededAn ideal candidate will have:PhD or equivalent in a relevant research environment,Applications will also be considered from candidates with a Masters and comparable industry experienceComprehensive experience undertaking all steps of rAAV production and purification, specifically using HEK293 cells,Hands-on experience with molecular biological analysis, e.g. cell culture, cell-based assays, transfection, and transduction,Proficiency with molecular assays such as real time qPCR, ELISA, western blot, etc,Experience in cloning DNA in bacterial systems.The PackageOur client is offering this opportunity on a full-time, permanent basis.
