About the Role
This is a very exciting time to join us following the creation of Optoma Holding based in the UK to bring together our global regions, as we improve our infrastructure, systems, and processes. With such exciting change, and with Optoma Europe playing a pivotal role in the transformation, this role forms the key connection between our users, our outsourced IT partner and the IT systems we deploy.
Our work can vary greatly from project to project and as such you will be expected to learn about a variety of environments.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake as directed routine network maintenance including backups at specified intervals, implementing security and virus protection measures, setting up and maintaining user accounts and user groups, and maintaining logs of usage/faults as required.
Test and install new software, hardware, and peripherals within the level of competence.
Provide a second-line support role.
Provide maintenance of networks, hardware, and software as appropriate to training provided and competence gained.
Monitor repair logs and action work as required.
Check regularly and maintain peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, whiteboards, and projectors to ensure that these are functioning and available to users.
Maintain inventories of equipment as required.
Assist with ordering of equipment, materials, and consumables, to ensure that value for money is obtained.
Support teaching and learning by providing technical assistance to staff, particularly if any equipment malfunctions.
Key Skills and Competencies
Ability to enthusiastically diagnose technical issues quickly, in person, over the telephone or via a ticketing system
Ability to communicate with users at all levels, simply and accurately describing technical problems in a way that users can understand
Excellent people and communication skills, both spoken and written
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach
Excellent organisational and time management skills - multitasking is a must
Attention to detail
Previous experience supporting users with laptop, desktop, and printer issues
Experience supporting and administrating Office 0365
Experience supporting networking devices/functions such as DHCP, Wi-Fi, routers, broadband, etc
Experience supporting Windows and desktop software including Microsoft Office
Basic understanding of cloud concepts
Experience in a similar position.
Assist with backups, restores, and disaster recovery of the system
Hardware/system monitoring and performance tuning
Aid in System/software/user maintenance and maintaining system documentation
Set up administrator and service accounts
Install system wide software
Maintain smooth, secure operation of multi-user computer systems
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or CompTIA A+ are a plus.
About You
As a main point of contact, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operational teams, system administrators, and project managers, to support IT initiatives and projects. Communicate effectively and seek guidance by utilising 3rd party resource to contribute to the design and architecture of IT infrastructure solutions, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud environments. Assist in gathering requirements and performing feasibility studies. You will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of IT roles.
