MCS Group are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading GB based insurance firm who are seeking to recruit their first Underwriter in Northern Ireland.The Opportunity As part of their strategic expansion plans, my client are looking for an experienced Northern Irish based Property and Casualty underwriter to help drive growth plans in the Northern Irish market. DutiesYour role as a Property and Casualty underwriter will involve working as a dedicated underwriter for for one of the companies leading broker partners. You will apply a range of underwriting, relationship management and business development techniques to underwrite a profitable book of new and renewal business.To work with the specified broker to forge internal relationships and extend the panel to include new brokers. This may require visits with other underwriters or Directors and candidates should have ability and potential to build and maintain own relationships.To produce and maintain underwriting files for both internal and external viewing and to prepare for audit. This will involve both paper and computerised records.Remain compliant within Company & regulators requirements at all times.Ensure the firm have full relevant underwriting data prior to logging/quoting including researching the proposers own website, credit checking site, Sanctions and Companies House and full underwriting checks.Work with software/computer system to produce quotations, certificates, schedules, policy wordings and accurate information.To assist with the development of an effective business activity plan with the brokers and have a good knowledge of overall business plans, processes and key contacts. This will involve all aspects of sales and marketing plus all support activity e.g. credit control.The PersonPrevious property and liability underwriting experienceStrong internal relationships within the specific broker.The ability to analyse risks and communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customersWork collaboratively with the broker and the Head OfficeGood knowledge of the FCA and other relevant regulation and legislationStrong commercial business acumen to create and deliver business casesACII qualified or progression towardsFull working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.A market leading salary and benefits package will be on offer for the successful candidate, get in touch for more information!All conversations will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
