Senior Security System Administrator
West London
Salary circa £55,000 depending on experience

I'm an IT specialist recruiter on the lookout for a curious, hands-on, information security obsessed Senior Security System Administrator to help to provide complex IT services for a client in West London. Candidates must be eligible for high level security clearance.

Skills and experience required:

  • An inquisitive problem-solver who doesn't quit if they don't immediately have the answer
  • Good 1st hand knowledge of Unix / Linux server systems
  • Active Directory - managing users and groups, user ID and permissions
  • Ability to write simple script - back ups, service availability, managing stacks etc
  • Networking - class, subnetting, routing, switching, VLAN
  • Comfortable heading up the service desk - triage, problem solving, good communication
  • Endless curiosity and patience, wanting to know the ins and outs of what's going on and why

Duties would include support and build of servers and network devices and maintaining defensive security technology. A deep knowledge of network elements is essential.

Perhaps you like to try your hand at some Python / Perl / Bash at home, for fun or to automate repetitive tasks. Could you check to see if the stack is full? Can you write back up scripts?

It's a well-rounded role with an opportunity to dabble and really get your hands dirty in different fields. You'd be the face of the IT department so it's essential to have much experience in triage/IT Support/Helpdesk, able to think on your feet when it comes to problem solving and asking the right questions. 3rd Line Support is something second nature to you, you can clear off escalated tickets in your sleep!

You'll be responsible for a good-sized infrastructure, suiting a system administrator with a strong interest (or even better, background!) in security. You'll be most comfortable in Linux but also confident with Windows (Active Directory administration) as both are essential and a focus of the role - you will be managing users and groups permissions accordingly.

Track and remediate tech issues using shared skills in a positive and fun environment - and within a secure industry! If you have a chunk of experience clearing through raised tickets, are typically the final point of resolution and enjoy dealing with varied and bizarre user requests then get in touch.

To apply please send an up to date CV to me at Nicola [dot] Cookson [at] Circle Recruitment [dot] com or click APPLY.

Cheers and best of luck!
