How to have a successful interview

Posted by: | Oct 22, 2021

Do you dread the interview stage? Are you not hearing back after your interview? Today I'm going to give you our top tips and tricks to nail your job interview to get the job of your dreams.

Research

Research is an opportunity to learn more about the company before your interview and this will help you to answer some of the questions they will throw your way. The knowledge you gain from your research will help you to determine how you can add value and if you want to work there.

Lastly, whether you have done your research or not is what your interviewer is trying to assess so if you don't do your research trust me, they'll know.

First impressions count

This is the first meeting you'll have with your employer so make it count. Prepare for common and difficult Questions

Common questions:

1.    Tell me about yourself?

2.    Why should I hire you?

Difficult questions:

1.    What are your weaknesses?

2.    Why did you leave your last job?

Know your CV

Your interviewer shouldn't be expected to know every little thing about your CV but you, on the other hand, the one who wrote it and the one who lived it should know enough about your CV to highlight your key points and achievements.

Make sure you have the answers prepared beforehand!

Interviews don't have to be one way

Interviews can feel a little bit scary when you first think about them but the way I like to look at it is like a two-way conversation. You are entitled to ask questions at the right time. Show enthusiasm for the job with at least 3 well-researched questions ready.

Take your time

When nervous it can be a habit to rush through your answers but instead give it some thought before answering difficult questions. Be relaxed and focused  Following on from my last point about not rushing, you want to also maintain a relaxed and focused mindset to help beat most of the interview nerves.

Stats

It's not what you say but how you say it. Our studies show that the most important parts when speaking are the following:

WHAT YOU SAY [THE WORDS] = 17%

VOICE & VOLUME [YOUR TONE] = 22%

ENTHUSIASM & BODY LANGUAGE [ENERGY] = 61%

Show CONFIDENCE in yourself and your ability
