Yard Supervisor

The Yard Supervisor will report directly to the Yard and Logistics Manager and provide supervision and daily direction to the Yard Team. You will monitor the weekly plans for galvanizers and customer deliveries, provide status of deliveries to the Yard and Logistics Manager, always ensuring a smooth workflow.

Additionally, you will interact effectively with other workshop Supervisors to ensure customer delivery excellence and achievement of On-Time-In-Full targets.

Shifts - Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm and Friday 7am to 2:30pm, 39 hour week

Competitive rates of pay (Dependant on experience)

Main duties and responsibilities:

·Carry out supervision of the yard staff to ensure compliance with all the relevant standards and procedures

·Ensure the timely and correct preparation of all the deliveries and report to the Yard and Logistics Manager of any delivery plan deviations

·Manage the Yard teams to coordinate their daily duties ensuring -

-all the required quality checks are performed consistently and that non-conformities are reported

-safe working procedures are thoroughly followed by the team and take action to address any unsafe working conditions

- correct bundling of material and safe loading of the trailers that there are adequate resources, tools, equipment and facilities available to deliver the weekly and long-range plans

Quality :

·Report any defects/fabrication non-conformities to the Yard and Logistics Manager

·Perform all the required corrective works

·Lead quality improvements and yard NCR process and communicate lessons learnt

·Ensure accuracy of all paperwork

Health, Safety & Environment :

·Ensuring all employees adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety procedures and training

·Ensure for high-level housekeeping in the Yard area, ensure areas are free from waste and trip hazards etc

·Reporting any accident/incidences, near misses etc into Manager

·Carry out regular H&S walk rounds of the Yard area

·Ensuring the team are wearing appropriate PPE

·Participate in risk assessments ensuring compliance with controls specified in the risk assessment

Authorities, Interface, Reporting and Supervision:

·Direct report to the Yard and Logistics Manager

·Liaise, Supervise, manage, and motivate the Yard team

·Liaise with other Supervisors

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes:

·Excellent knowledge of health and safety

·Good organisational skills.

·Knowledge of logistics, material handling, kitting and bundling and Bills of Material management

·Continuous Improvement techniques for enhanced efficiency and quality of service

·Computer/IT and spreadsheet working skills

·Process improvement, including KPI’s and measures of success

·Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

·Able to work as part of a team, offering support to others
