Transport Operations Manager | Llanrwst, Conwy | 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for on-call emergencies on a rotational basis (1 week in 4) | £40,000 – £45,000 pa + on-call approx. £1300 per year + free transport on the company bus services.

Our client is an ambitious family-run business based in Llanrwst, North Wales. Operating a mixed fleet of coaches for prestigious clients like National Express, Leger Shearings Group, PGL, and Lochs and Glens, they are also deeply rooted in the local community.

From providing essential local bus services to supporting schools, colleges, and private customers, they believe in going the extra mile for all their customers. Recent achievements include winning substantial national and local contracts, including the first all-electric bus service in North Wales.

Are you the right person for the job?


  • Experience in resource management within a dynamic environment
  • Full understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations (training provided)
  • Proven management and leadership skills (ILM 5 or equivalent desirable)
  • Strong IT literacy in industry software (or similar), data input, email, Word, and Excel
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to understand and apply company pricing policy/parameters
  • Understanding of basic commercial and employment law guidance
  • Confident decision-making skills under pressure
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative team
  • Good UK geographical knowledge
  • While not mandatory, experience in transport or logistics would be advantageous

What will your role look like?

As the Transport Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in their busy operations centre, ensuring compliance with passenger transport legislation and regulations. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Managing the efficient allocation of resources using industry software in compliance with regulation and best practice.
  • Ensuring appropriate consultation over work allocation between line mangers and drivers. 
  • Leading and managing the operations team ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, contracts, guides and handbooks.
  • Managing the recruitment, induction, and probation of qualified and trainee drivers.
  • Line-managing local drivers (Bus Services and School Transport) and office assistant.
  • Overseeing the management of the National Express contract to meet the Gold Standard
  • Overseeing the management of tours to ensure customer/passenger satisfaction
  • Leading the performance and development review process of ops staff and drivers.
  • Conducting investigations and disciplinary hearings in line with Company procedures
  • Liasing with engineering to ensure vehicle availability to meet operational requirements
  • Responding to accidents, breakdowns, and vehicle/staff changes
  • Pricing private hire work and actively marketing spare capacity. 
  • Conducting spot checks on driver and vehicle standards
  • Ensuring accurate timesheets and receipts provided to payroll by required deadline
