Monarch Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Banbury from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term position, ideal for a passionate educator committed to supporting young learners' early development.

About the Role:
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons that foster a nurturing environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will plan and deliver a broad curriculum, focusing on developing early literacy, numeracy, and key skills through creative and differentiated activities. Your role will also involve monitoring pupil progress, providing tailored support, and encouraging a love for learning in a positive classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum, including core subjects and creative areas.
  • Supporting the development of early reading, writing, and numeracy skills through targeted, differentiated activities.
  • Assessing pupils' progress regularly, maintaining accurate records, and providing constructive feedback to colleagues and parents.
  • Creating a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, independence, and curiosity.
  • Managing behaviour positively and consistently, in line with the school's behaviour policy, to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs to ensure equitable access to learning opportunities.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff to support holistic development.
  • Upholding safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Participating in school events, staff meetings, and contributing to the wider school community.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1.
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate young children.
  • A caring, proactive approach with a focus on creating a positive, nurturing environment.
  • Effective communication and collaborative working skills.
