About the Role:

We are looking to appoint a motivated and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography to join our dedicated Humanities team at a secondary school in Chester. The successful candidate will deliver inspiring and well-structured lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach at Key Stage 5.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Geography lessons that stimulate curiosity and understanding of both physical and human environments.

Adapt teaching strategies to support students of all abilities and ensure steady academic progress.

Assess, monitor, and report on student performance in line with school and national standards.

Contribute to the design and review of the Geography curriculum to ensure relevance, challenge, and engagement.

Promote a love of Geography through engaging classroom activities, fieldwork opportunities, and enrichment events.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Humanities department and the wider school.

Maintain a well-managed classroom environment that fosters respect, discipline, and academic focus.

Participate in wider school life, including parents’ evenings, extracurricular activities, and whole-school initiatives.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.

A degree in Geography or a closely related subject.

Ability to teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Excellent classroom management and lesson planning skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Desirable:

Experience teaching Geography at A-Level.

Familiarity with relevant exam boards such as AQA or Edexcel.

An interest in outdoor learning and fieldwork.

A proven track record of raising student achievement.
