Position: Support Worker - Alternative Provision
Location: Lancaster, Lancashire
Contract: Supply/Temporary
Salary: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience
About the Role
As a Support Worker within an Alternative Provision setting, you will play a vital role in helping students aged 5-16 overcome barriers to learning, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with diverse needs
* Assisting in the development and implementation of personalised education plans
* Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
* Supporting students during lessons, activities, and transitions
* Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
* Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with:
* Experience in supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviours
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
* Strong communication and team-working skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or Social Care) are desirable but not essential
