Are you someone seeking a key role, offering vital support and services to victim-survivors of domestic abuse, as well as raising awareness and promoting education in the community?

As a Healthy Relationships Support Worker you will be part of the Domestic Abuse Support Worker Outreach team.

This is a TERM TIME ONLY role at 37.5 hours per week during term time.

You will be part of an experienced and dedicated team who provide direct support to families who have or are experiencing domestic abuse

With a focus on empowering victim-survivors to escape abuse and rebuild their lives.

Delivering a holistic package of support using a trauma-informed approach to support their needs through one-to-one work and group work programmes.

What you will be doing

As a Healthy Relationships Worker, you will work with children and young people across schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRU’S) and Special schools to deliver an age-appropriate educational programme. It will raise awareness and increase knowledge and understanding of healthy relationships in families.

Duties Include:

Group Work planning and Delivery:

* To organise and facilitate group work programmes for CYP, which will include a learning development approach, in all age groups.

* To work with CYP to ensure that all aspects of their needs are assessed as part of the group work programme in relation to safeguarding, including risk and safety planning, emotional & physical health & wellbeing, education, and social & family networks.

Safeguarding:

* To work in partnership with all agencies in relation to safeguarding children following both local and national approaches around EHA, TAF and Child Protection Protocols and any other relevant / approved approaches.

* Ensuring children and young people are kept safe by adhering to Safeguarding procedures and implement them as appropriate.

Partnership Working:

* To take collective responsibility in educating and informing the local community, Police, Schools, Social Services and other organisations about the impact & needs of children affected by domestic abuse.

* To raise awareness around issues affecting CYP by providing regular updates of changes in legislation and local & national initiatives in relation to Safeguarding Children & Young People.

Monitoring and Reporting:

* To keep up-to date written and electronic records of work with children and to contribute towards providing statistical information for funding agencies.

To meet the needs of the role:

Demonstrate skills and experience in key areas including:

* An appropriate qualification in teaching, Youth & Community / Social work, Counselling etc.

* Experience with supporting children and young people.

* Experience of delivering group work programmes to children and young people using a person centred and trauma informed approach

* An understanding of issues relating to domestic abuse that affect children and the impact.

* Ability to plan, facilitate, evaluate, and record group and individual sessions with children and young people

* To be able to build supportive trusting relationships without encouraging dependency

* The ability to communicate effectively with children of different ages and backgrounds, and help them to communicate their experiences.

* The ability to help children and young people develop self-confidence and improve their social and communication skills

* To be able to manage difficult or challenging behaviours.

* To be able to listen in a non-judgmental manner, helping young people to explore behaviours that are safe/unsafe and reach their own conclusions.

* An understanding of risk assessment and safeguarding procedures

* Good ICT skills including Microsoft office.

* Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings.

* Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and good practice

* Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team

* Willingness to learn and be flexible in approach to meet the needs the organisaton.

* Full clean driving license and use of a car for work purposes

* Able to work some evenings and weekends.
