Subcontract Buyer - Infrastructure Projects
Nationwide (Home-based with UK travel) Reports to: Cost Management Director
Your New Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Subcontract Buyer to join a growing team responsible for delivering asset replacement works across a diverse UK infrastructure portfolio, including Healthcare, Education, and Defence sectors. This home-based role involves sourcing, negotiating, and managing subcontractor relationships to ensure quality, value, and compliance in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Procure subcontracted works packages (e.g. M&E, roofing, internal works) in line with scope, budget, and timelines
Prepare tender documentation and issue RFQs to approved subcontractors
Review, assess, and negotiate subcontractor quotations and terms
Support in contract drafting and ensure alignment with legal and commercial requirements
Maintain and develop the approved subcontractor database
Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to align procurement with project needs
Monitor subcontractor performance, compliance, and financial impact
Contribute to procurement reporting and cost tracking across the project portfolio
What You'll Need to Succeed
Experience procuring subcontractor packages in construction or infrastructure environments
Strong understanding of procurement processes and commercial terms
Background in PFI/PPP or lifecycle replacement works (desirable)
Excellent negotiation, organisational, and communication skills
Familiarity with relevant procurement systems and contract documentation
HND/Degree in a construction, commercial, or procurement-related discipline
Full UK driving licence
