Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restaurant operations and a keen understanding of food preparation and safety. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen activities, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation, and fostering a positive team environment within our hospitality establishment.

Responsibilities

* Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities.

* Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.

* Manage food production processes, including portion control and presentation.

* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.

* Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and collaboration.

* Help create new menu items and contribute to menu planning based on seasonal ingredients.

* Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage food costs effectively.

* Address any issues that arise during service promptly to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment.

* Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen management practices.

* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong leadership qualities with experience in team management and staff training.

* Passion for food and creativity in menu development is highly desirable.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Job Types: Temporary, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: £17.00-£19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

* Monday to Friday

* Weekend availability
