Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of the Commercial practice within CSI, working with the CSI Leadership, Procurement, Finance, Legal and Pre-Sales teams.
The role of the Software Licensing Manager is to be the subject matter expert for and manager of all software licenses across the organisation. This includes optimising spend, managing and tracking license usage requirements, staying up to date with market developments and issuing Requests for Proposal. The Software Licensing Manager will also define and facilitate communication with providers to deliver software and applications according to plan and within budget, and to ensure licensing compliance. The role will encompass the end-to-end licence management from inception to billing the end client.
Key Accountabilities
Develop a framework to understand, manage and optimise the cost base for software licenses including, Microsoft (SPLA, CSP and Azure), Veeam, VMware, Halcyon, MIMIX, Alert Logic, Logic Monitor, IBM Spectrum Protect, Red Hat.
Create and maintain methodologies to work out optimal license prices and options
Provide updates on latest developments and timely and accurate updates on any price changes
Working with the Data team to track license usage
Develop a detailed understanding of how each product is/are licensed
Work with vendors and the CSI Legal team to understand contractual obligations with vendors
Work with Procurement and Pre-sales teams to understand commercial agreements with license vendors
Keep up to date with what license changes are coming in future releases and when products are going out of support. Creating a mechanism to feed this information into the relevant teams
Being the main point of contact for any licensing queries
Skills and Experience:
Experienced in software licensing and compliance in I.T managed services environment
Willingness to be flexible and to adapt to new demands in a fast-moving environment
Strong interpersonal skills, a positive and dynamic personality
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise heavy workload to meet deadlines
Experienced in liaising with vendors for RFPs, RFQs and Invitations to Bid
Managed contracts and negotiations in a previous organisation, preferably an IT managed services environment
