Lead Commercial Excellence in High-Impact FM and Construction Projects

A dynamic and commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor is sought for a key role supporting facilities management and construction activities on the Ministry of Defence (MOD) estate. This is a unique opportunity to apply your commercial expertise in a high-profile, complex environment, helping to deliver essential services across a diverse and challenging portfolio.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide strategic commercial oversight for core services and billable works, ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and robust financial management. You’ll deliver cost modelling, risk assessments, pricing strategies, and support the resolution of supply chain queries. Managing change in accordance with the USVF contract and ensuring accurate milestone payments and final accounts will be central to your responsibilities.

You will collaborate with internal teams—Area Managers, Project Managers, and fellow Commercial professionals—as well as client-side stakeholders including MOD and Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives. Building and maintaining strong, professional relationships will be crucial to your success.

Your role also contributes to wider organisational goals such as health and safety compliance, sustainability, utility reduction, and promoting best commercial practices across the estate. You’ll support dispute resolution, assist in risk management meetings, and help ensure alignment with frameworks like BS11000 (Collaborative Business Relationships).

What You’ll Need to Succeed
HND/Foundation Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
Strong background in commercial roles within FM or construction environments
In-depth knowledge of cost control, risk management, and dispute resolution
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to work across multi-site operations and within high-security, regulated environments
Flexibility to travel and a proactive, collaborative approachDesirable:

Experience working on MOD or similar defence contracts
Training in carbon reduction or utilities management
CPD-accredited learning or membership of a relevant professional bodyWhat’s on Offer
