What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
Significant demonstrable experience of upgrading enterprise-scale macOS or other operating systems.
Detailed working knowledge and understanding of complex and diverse customer needs, taking accountability for delivering a quality service which adheres to legal, regulatory and security standards.
Drives continuous improvement in processes and standards across teams and the wider DWP engineering community.
Influential with the ability to challenge suppliers and peers on choice of technologies and/or design patterns and offer alternative views and recommendations.
You and your role
In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure operational stability and innovation across a range of critical services, including:
Engineering Platforms supporting ~3,000 developers and testers across DWP.
Creative Devices empowering media and video professionals to deliver impactful campaigns.
Data Insight Tools enhancing the Department's digital experience.
Citizen-Facing Devices in Jobcentres nationwide - including a major refresh of ~8,500 devices across 800+ sites.
This is a unique opportunity to directly improve the digital experience for millions of UK citizens.
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll also provide technical leadership in our specialist area of macOS and Jamf, while contributing to continuous improvement and exploring emerging technologies.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool or Manchester, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £68,517.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
