  • Involved in the complete lifecycle of hardware development, including detailed circuit design, prototyping, testing and verification, and system integration.
  • Develop Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts and assemblies, preparing them for manufacturing.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Prototype and test new hardware designs, troubleshooting and fixing any issues that arise.
  • Documentation: Produce comprehensive design documentation to support long-term product support.
  • Archive all hardware and software designs to preserve the company's intellectual property.
  • Develop custom test tools for your designs, using GitLab for version control and collaborating on software development.
  • Project Planning: Plan and prioritize tasks to ensure that project deadlines are met.
  • Status Reports: Provide regular project updates and status reports.
Requirements:
  • Schematic Design: Experience designing hardware schematics, focusing on robust, efficient designs.
  • Proficiency in PCB layout design to create functional and manufacturable hardware systems.
  • Knowledge of bus protocols such as PCIe, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
  • FPGA Design: Experience in designing FPGAs using Verilog or VHDL design languages.
  • Familiarity with Linux embedded systems for integration and operation of hardware components.
  • Experience working with microcontrollers and System on Chips (SOC) devices.
  • Ability to write embedded software in C and Assembler.
  • Experience in conducting system tests and characterisation of hardware components.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to debug using oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
  • Hand soldering skills for modifying prototypes and working on detailed hardware changes.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of SDR technology and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms.
  • Familiarity with RF test and measurement techniques, using tools like Vector Network Analysers (VNA), spectrum analysers, and power meters.
  • Understanding of high-speed digital design, particularly for RF and communication applications.
  • Knowledge of the architecture of radio systems, ensuring designs meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Experience with radio circuit simulation and design for signal integrity and system performance.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping of RF designs and mechanical structures to quickly iterate on new concepts.
