Senior Consultant - Cost Intelligence
London / St. Albans / Liverpool / Manchester / Leeds

Our Cost Intelligence practice is market leading, engaging clients in both the public and private sectors across the UK and around the world.
The team provide a range of solutions to address intelligence challenges faced by infrastructure clients. We work across a number of disciplines including efficiency & value identification, benchmarking & continuous improvement, and construction economics research & analysis. We utilise emerging technologies and insights to produce market leading solutions for consultancy commissions, adding tangible value to our clients.
The Opportunity
As a result of our continued growth we have multiple opportunities for proactive and innovative Senior Level Consultants.
The successful candidate is expected to take an active role across all stages of a project. From identifying the needs, producing the initial project definition and brief and cost planning, through to procurement, construction and building use; you will have an opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients including high-profile projects, working alongside other construction professionals in multi-disciplinary teams. You will need to be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, taking the lead in solution delivery.
The successful candidate(s) will be expected to:
Support and deliver commissions in area of; efficiency & value identification, assurance & continuous improvement, construction economics research & analysis, plus general cost intelligence services.
Have experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines:
Cost Model and / or Cost Estimate development
Statistical Analysis to support benchmarking and efficiency exercises
Business Cases development and Cost Benefit Analysis
Evaluation of strategic options to support investment decisions
Defining business models.
Identify cost reduction opportunities through benchmarking and efficiency exercises
Possess analysis capabilities which can be applied to client and industry datasets to create data-driven solutions.
Work with the leadership team to mature and develop service offerings with practical and viable solutions for our clients.
Strengthen our position as a leader in the identification and delivery of cost intelligence solution delivery across a range of sectors both in the UK and across the Europe.
Contribute to the delivery our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the market by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK and across Europe.
Provide assistance to senior management in the preparation of technical and financial proposals
Ensure effective delivery through project and financial management for complex assignments.
Maintain high quality professional outputs.
Provide direction and technical advice to junior team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential, developing team spirit and collaborative behaviours;
As a Consultant at AECOM, you will have exposure to many of the above tasks, utilising your sector knowledge, skills and experience, and benefiting from exposure to new areas of study and research. You will be responsible for deliverables within your projects and initiatives, driving innovation with the support of colleagues. You will be technically excellent, providing leading solutions to clients that solve problems in an efficient and effective manner.
The successful candidate(s) will work collaboratively to deliver a range of projects, as well as supporting senior leaders in the practice and wider Business Unit to grow the practice. You will play a key role in defining and influencing the workplace culture. You will set the tone for communication and collaboration within the team, raising morale and job satisfaction, increasing productivity and efficiency in a positive and supportive environment.
You will be supported by your line manager with regular mentoring and in continuing your professional development with training and support for chartership.
Preferred requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree (min 2:2 or equivalent)
Member of relevant industry body such as the RICS, APM or ACostE with supporting accreditation/certifications
Skills and Experience:
Comfortable writing technical reports and preparing presentations including the development of bid proposals and documents to support client opportunities.
Comfortable in problem solving and developing novel solutions to meet client needs
Be able to lead small, multidisciplinary project teams to support project delivery
Demonstrable experience and/or relevant qualification in one or more of the following: cost modelling, cost estimation, business case development, cost-benefit analysis or statistical analyses.
Knowledge and interest in the infrastructure sector and its ongoing developments
Strong capability in the Microsoft Suite of products
Effective decision making with strong verbal and written communication
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills - able to lead workshops and client engagements
Proactive and driven
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to work with a range of Clients and Consultants
Background working in a consultancy environment or contracting experience in relevant discipline.
Buy-in to achieving deadlines set by Clients and Managers
Able to produce auditable outputs with clear record of error checking and demonstration of validity in results
Take pride in quality and appearance of Client deliverables.
