We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a primary school located in Thamesmead, London. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing support to children with Autism and behavioural challenges, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-Work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of children with Autism and behavioural issues.
-Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
-Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
-Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, adapting teaching methods to meet their specific needs.
-Assist with classroom activities, ensuring that all children are engaged and supported.
-Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
-Promote the social and emotional well-being of students.
-Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including teachers, therapists, and external agencies.
Requirements:
-Experience working with children with Autism and behavioural challenges in an educational setting.
-Understanding of SEND best practices and behaviour management techniques.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
-Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (preferred but not essential).
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
