Science Technician – Pencoed Comprehensive School, Bridgend

As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the science faculty by ensuring all practical lessons are delivered safely and effectively. You will maintain equipment, prepare materials, and assist in creating a safe and productive laboratory environment.
Science Technician Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare, set up, and dismantle equipment and materials for science experiments.
* Maintain stock levels, order supplies, and ensure proper chemical storage.
* Calibrate and perform maintenance checks on laboratory instruments.
* Ensure all activities adhere to current health and safety legislation (e.g. COSHH, CLEAPSS).
* Support teachers and students during practical lessons when necessary.
* Maintain records of risk assessments, chemical inventories, and equipment checks.
Qualifications & Skills Required for the Science Technician role:
* Minimum 5 GCSEs including Science, Maths, and English.
* Previous lab experience or a background in a scientific or technical field preferred.
* Excellent attention to detail and safety awareness.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
* Strong communication skills and team collaboration.
Working Conditions
* This Science Technician role is Term-time only (plus additional days for preparation).
* Typical hours: 08.30-15.30
