School Caretaker

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Caretaker to help maintain the safety, cleanliness, and smooth running of our school site. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that the school environment is safe, secure, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Open and close the school premises each day

*

Conduct regular security and safety checks (including fire alarms and emergency lighting)

Carry out minor repairs and maintenance (e.g. basic plumbing, painting, joinery)

*

Monitor cleaning standards and ensure grounds are kept tidy

*

Liaise with contractors and supervise works as required

*

Assist with setting up furniture and equipment for events and classroom use

*

Ensure safe storage of tools, materials, and cleaning supplies

*

Support in managing site health & safety compliance (e.g. COSHH, risk assessments)

Candidate Requirements:

Previous caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities management experience (school setting desirable)

*

Basic DIY and maintenance skills

*

Good understanding of health & safety practices

*

Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
